Scoring rules
Partial credit, negative marking and flexible checking of short answers.
Partial credit
When "Partial credit" is enabled on a multiple-choice question, each correct choice adds points and each wrong choice cancels one out. The result never goes below 0. For example, a respondent who picks 2 of the 3 correct answers plus 1 wrong option gets 1/3 of the question's points.
In matching, ordering and fill-in-the-blanks questions, a share of the points is given for each item placed correctly.
Negative marking
You can set a number of "points deducted for a wrong answer" on a question. It applies only when the answer is entirely wrong. Unanswered questions lose no points, and the overall test score never drops below 0.
Checking short answers
Short-answer and fill-in-the-blanks questions accept several correct answers. The following settings matter especially for Uzbek:
- Upper and lower case are treated the same.
- Apostrophe variants are treated as equal:
o',oʻando‘are the same. - Latin and Cyrillic scripts are equal: both
BuxoroandБухороare accepted. - Punctuation and extra spaces are ignored.
- Typo tolerance (optional): one or two wrong letters are forgiven.
In the question editor, type an answer a respondent might give into the Try an answer field — you will see straight away whether it is accepted.
